As part of the presentation of the 5th PNAID Meeting – National Programme to Support Diaspora Investment, held on November 2 at the Ourém City Hall, the event was attended by the Secretary of State for Regional Development, Isabel Ferreira, the Secretary of State for Portuguese Communities, Paulo Cafôfo, Jorge Brandão representing the Centro Regional Coordination and Development Commission, the President of the Intermunicipal Community of Médio Tejo, Anabela Freitas, and the Mayor of Ourém, Luís Miguel Albuquerque.
Following the session, the delegation visited Vipremi – Pré-fabricados de betão, Lda., located in the Ourém industrial zone, with the aim of learning more about companies created with “diaspora investments.” During the visit, Vipremi’s new production facilities were presented, representing a total investment of around €3 million, with a direct impact on both the local and national economy.
In 2022, the PNAID Meetings will take place in Fátima from 15 to 17 December, co-organised by the Municipality of Ourém and the Intermunicipal Community of Médio Tejo, in partnership with the Centro Regional Coordination and Development Commission. Under the theme “Diaspora Investment, an investment with a brand,” the PNAID Meetings aim to provide information on key areas of national public policy to Portuguese entrepreneurs abroad who are interested in investing in Portugal. The initiative also seeks to present participants with investment opportunities and support measures for investment in Portugal and internationalisation through the diaspora.
For the region, the PNAID Meetings represent an important strategic asset for positioning the Médio Tejo territory internationally. The event acts as a catalyst for entrepreneurship and the creation of new business initiatives in Portugal, serving as a powerful economic, social, and cultural force that contributes decisively to strengthening national cohesion and the competitiveness of the Portuguese economy.
